Speed Singles

The fastest most hard hitting format for any CCG ever designed.  Speed Singles isn’t your average style of tournament.  In a speed Singles tournament only one thing matters… victory.  Loss is only important in so much as it means someone else had a win. Speed Singles is a free form tournament system, where there are no restrictions on time… rather the complete opposite.

At the start the SS event, the players therein are paired like in the first round of a normal tournament.  They play a single one game match and turn in the results.  Here is where things get a little different.  Instead of sitting around waiting for the round to end, those people who have finished immediately get paired with other people who are finished, and go on to play another round right away!

Prizes are given out for two objectives:

  1. The player with the most wins (Independent of Losses)
  2. The player who has completed the greatest number of games (Win or loss)

Optionally, some Speed Singles events will have a third prize for the person with the most LOSSes.  Tournament organizers should police this prize well, however, since there are some decks that can lose before the game even starts, and can make this un-fun.  Games MUST be completed, players may not request draws, nor concede in a Speed Singles event, as time is part of the format.

Speed Singles events generally take place over a 2 to 3 hour period.  At the end of that period, time is called, and all matches are immediately ended as draws.  Matches unreported when time is called are not considered in the final scoring.
