Battle Pack Draft Rules
This is an optional rule system to be employed when playing a normal Battlepack Tournament.
Type: Sealed (Uses sealed product only)
Resources: 1 Battle Pack, and 3 Boosters from the Current format. Per Person.
Starting in Light and Shadow, we’ve geared our Battlepacks towards draft. Instead of quasi random cards (Including a far too high percentage of Mercenaries) the contents of a Battlepack now include 10 Fixed cards, and the contents of a normal Booster pack, and an additional bonus rare. These packs are intended for drafting.
To run a draft, first break down the players into ‘pods’ of at least 4 people, and at most 8. An 8 person tournament can be a single pod of 8, or two pods of 4.
Players open the contents of their battlepack and look through it. This is the start of their deck. And is set aside. This will give them a starting pool of 22 cards. Take a moment to let people look through their cards, and then start the draft.
Each player will open their first pack, and look through the contents of it, and choose the one card they most want to play in their deck. After each person has chosen, the packs are passed to the right. This process repeats until the pack is empty.
The next booster is opened, and the same process is done, except the packs are passed to the left.
Third and Final booster is opened and proceeds the same again, but going to the right.
After all players have their cards, they will have 55 cards total. From those 55 cards, construct a deck of at least 30 cards, that follows all the normal rules for deck construction. If you somehow can’t make a legal deck from that, you are disqualified from the event.
The tournament structure follows the normal rules for a constructed tournament from there on, with the only difference that you are using your drafted deck, and not a 50 card constructed deck.
